First American Payment Systems, a leader in the credit card processing industry, is looking for a Technical Writer to contribute to the suite of technical product offerings by creating accompanying documentation designed to support product sales and adoption across partners/customers. This position will work collaboratively with many stakeholders across the organization including developers, engineers, quality analysts, product managers, sales, and marketing. This position will report to the Vice President of Program Management.


  • Working alongside internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product, documentation requirements, and needs of the end users.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
    • Incorporate a variety of techniques such as diagrams, charts, photographs, animation to increase users’ understanding.
    • Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals, mobile, or online help.
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help, developer guides, FAQs, and process flows.
  • Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.
  • Create tutorials that help end-users use a variety of applications.
  • Create and maintain the related information architecture.
  • Develop repeatable templates for use in many scenarios standardizing content across platforms and media.
  • Provide product improvement recommendations to drive ease of use.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a matrix environment.


  • 3-5 years’ experience in technical writing of software documentation.
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Ability to deliver high quality technical documentation with attention to detail and the end-user experience.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable and actionable in text and pictures.
  • Deep understanding of basic technologies like web services (REST & SOAP).
  • Ability to understand and incorporate both technical and business language/terms.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills including the ability to interact with a wide variety of team members, from front line to executive.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Visio, html, and tools such as Swagger.
  • Preferred: Development or other technical background with familiarity of the SDLC and software development.
