First American Payment Systems, located in Downtown Fort Worth, is seeking an experienced and well-rounded industry subject matter expert to join our Settlement Team as a Settlement Business Analyst.


As a Settlement Business Analyst in the Merchant and Card Brand industry, your primary responsibility will be to serve as a liaison between the business and the IT organization by reviewing, analyzing, and troubleshooting settlement and chargeback systems: including testing, debugging, installing and coordinating delivery of code applications. You will be responsible for consulting with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify code release objectives.


This role requires a comprehensive understanding of AX/Visa/MC/Discover interchange scheme, and regulatory and technical requirements of transaction processing.


We are looking for someone who can:

  • Work directly with IT to develop systems enhancements and resolve production problems.
  • Analyze quarterly card brands technical releases and provide supporting document for required technical and operational updates.
  • Understand and document complex processes using current tools and techniques such as process maps or diagrams, and MS Visio software.
  • Contribute to the documentation and translation of functional business requirements to technical solutions.
  • Participate in the planning, installation, implementation, upgrade, problem determination and resolution involving settlement and chargeback systems.
  • Ability to articulate business requirements in writing for code releases required for internal processes and third party vendor processes.


We expect the Settlement BA to have the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • 3-5 years previous experience, credit card industry preferred.
  • Not required but helpful: Basic understanding of SQL Server, database concepts, and COBOL.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software as necessary.
  • The ability to act as the liaison with other departments within First American.
  • Dependable and self-motivated.
