  • Overview

    The IT Security Analyst is a member of the information security team and works closely with the other members of the team, the business, and other IT staff to develop and manage security for one or more IT functional area (e.g., data, systems, network, and/or applications) across the enterprise.

    The role includes the ability to effectively analyze all relevant cybersecurity event data and other information sources for suspicious network traffic, attack indicators and potential security breaches; produce reports, assist in coordination during incidents.

    Responsibilities

    • Work as part of a team to maintain security and integrity of corporate data and IT systems through activities including:
      • SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning, Endpoint Detection and Response, Identity Management, PKI, Email Filtering, Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, AV, Data Classification, Data Loss Prevention, Threat Intelligence, Incident Tickets, Policy and Procedure documenting, Security Awareness Training, Security Data Report Extraction & Analysis
    • Manage and maintain multiple security solutions and appliances
    • Work collaboratively with other security personnel to monitor security vulnerability intelligence, identify, analyze and communicate the impact of new security vulnerabilities with impacted users
    • Prepare status reports on new and ongoing security vulnerability investigations to keep management informed about security issues that may affect the company or its customers
    • Assist in the coordination and completion of information security operations documentation
    • Work with information security leadership to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks
    • Report to management concerning residual risk, vulnerabilities and other security exposures, including misuse of information assets and noncompliance
    • Play an advisory role in application development or acquisition projects to assess security requirements and controls and to ensure that security controls are implemented as planned
    • Collaborate on critical IT projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle
    • Work with IT department and members of the information security team to identify, select and implement technical controls
    • Research, evaluate, and recommend information-security-related hardware and software, including developing business cases for security investments of current and new technologies
    • Provide direct support to the business and IT staff for security related issues.
    • Educate IT and the business about security policies and consults on security issues regarding user built/managed systems
    • Represent the security needs of the organization by providing expertise and assistance in all IT projects with regard to security issues
    • Maintain an awareness of security and control issues in emerging technologies
    • Respond to escalated support tickets to resolve security related issues; this may involve occasional out of hours work, when necessary
    • Utilize interpersonal and business skills to effectively communicate with management, clients, and peers
    • Perform other duties as assigned by IT Security Leadership

    Qualifications

    • 1 – 5 years of  IT or network security experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering
    • “Can-Do” attitude delivering IT security
    • Ability to quickly troubleshoot complex problems and take appropriate corrective action
    • Works well under pressure situations
    • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and function as a technical team mentor
    • Ability to be on-call for emergency purposes
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, operate in a fast-pace environment and can handle the escalations
    • Previous experience as an Application, Network, or Help Desk a strong plus
    • Strength in both business and technical requirements analysis
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documenting concepts, designs, presenting to groups)
